Mother / Daughter Tattoo

Whenever my daughter is going through a rough time, I tell her over and over again that “it’s going to be ok” and we repeat those words to each other like a mantra. Sometimes when things are going just fine, we still say it to each other! It’s like a secret code – another way to say “you got this” and “I love you.”

We talked about getting matching tattoos a few times over the last couple of years, but since we never really had any clear idea of what we wanted, we never followed through. We liked the idea of handwriting tattoos, but what should they say? When eventually one of us suggested “it’s going to be ok”, we both looked at each other and grinned. It was so right!

So, today, a middle aged mom and her young adult daughter walked into a tattoo shop for the first time. We giggled nervously, asked some questions, looked at our artist’s photo album of stunning body art examples, had a consultation, and made an appointment. By this time next month, my daughter and I will be inked! (Finally, in my case!)
